A few things you might want to know...

Originally following the classical route that her parents had professionally trodden, Rachael trained classically with Jean Allister while at the University of Leeds. But it was while living in New York City that Rachael found her jazz feet in the vibrant bars and clubs, singing at such gems as Chez Suzette, Kavehaz, Dillons and the Leopard Lounge, to name a few. She was fortunate to find a welcoming group of singers, and particularly Trudi Mann, who introduced her to some fabulous musicians including Ted and Pat Firth (piano), Bob Sabin and Saadi Zane (Bass) and Rich Hunt (drums) and it was with a selection of these musicians that she made her first recordings in a lovely warm apartment studio on 72nd Street in April 2003 with the snow falling outside. They were new experiences and good times with like-minded souls. Her time in that great city and her love of jazz certainly created a new direction for Rachael to follow when she made her return to the UK in 2004.

Back in London she studied with the internationally renowned Tina May, and slowly but surely began to establish herself on the London jazz scene. In 2007 she recorded her latest CD, Escape, with Rob Barron (piano), Simon Thorpe  (bass) and Richard Barr (drums) and, since then, she has been going from strength to strength.

Rachael now has the very great pleasure of performing regularly as part of the Late Night Friday sessions at the Royal Academy of Arts in Piccadilly where she works with the very talented Paul Weinreb on piano and Danny Manners on bass. She has also performed to great acclaim at well known central London venues including the Octave (Covent Garden), Nineteen Below at the Crown Plaza (Blackfriars), the Spice of Life (Cambridge Circus) and the Cafe Royale (Piccadilly). Recently she has also been building her already international credentials by providing the cabaret at the famous Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo for one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms.

During her downtime Rachael can be found taking part in jam sessions around London, particularly in Crouch End which is a haven for some of our most talented musicians, including the great Laurie Morgan - one of the founders of Club 11 in the 50's and one of the original line up at Ronnie Scott's.  Paul W can also be found there along with drummer Paul Morgan, Lakis Economou on bass, Morris Cockrall, John China (both piano) - all fabulous musicians.

Rachael sings at weddings, corporate functions, parties and, well, at any opportunity really, always to the great enjoyment of the audience and also, let's face it, for her own enjoyment - she just gets a kick out of making music.
